Giving thanks for my parents – and my first live TV appearance!

Happy Thanksgiving week!

I have so much to be thankful for, but today I am especially thankful for my parents.

Mom and my Dad took a trip to the Midwest from Thursday-Sunday, traveling to/around Chicago, Notre Dame and Valparaiso. They took in the sights and scenes of Chicago, a city that is part of my Mom’s roots, as her father was born there… then they drove to South Bend, IN to watch the Notre Dame football game (thanks to a dear friend, Meg), a dream come true for Dad… and finally they had brunch with two of my Mom’s best bloggy friends, Rhonda and Nancy – a dream come true for Mom.

They arrived back home last night around 11:00pm, and I’m sure they were exhausted enough from their wonderful, whirlwind long weekend to sleep in until noon.

So, at 6:15am this morning, as I prepped myself for the filming of a fitness segment on a local television program, The Rhode Show, I was more than surprised to get a text from Mom asking if I wanted her to join me.

Of course I did!!

I was so nervous for my first live television appearance, and I knew Mom would be the perfect person to put me at ease… but I didn’t want to ask her to come with me so early the morning after her trip.

But I really shouldn’t have been all that surprised, I guess. Both of my parents are always there for me, offering support, love and encouragement in everything I do.

It just really meant a lot for me today to have my Mom with me as I went over what I was going to talk about during the segment. And it was so great to have her in the studio with me, documenting my time on the show!

When my segment was over, I called my Dad and I could hear the excitement and pride in his voice. He texted me a video clip of my segment, and again I just felt so blessed to have parents who love me so much. I love you, Dad!

As we were leaving the television station, I was in the mood for a celebratory vanilla chai tea, so Mom and I headed to Panera for a little treat.

Mom, I’m sure you could have used a lot more sleep than you got, but it meant the world to me that you woke up early to come with me to The Rhode Show. I am so, so very thankful for everything you do!! I love you!

P.S. Here is my fitness segment on The Rhode Show!
