OCTOBER OBSOLETE: Reviving words that kids will love… like TELARIAN

365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS!

DAY 299 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids:

Obsolete words are no longer in general use and may have fallen out of favor for nearly a century or more, but who says obsolete and rarely used words can’t be revived by kids who love words?

Today’s word is TELARIAN, meaning one that spins a web, as in a spider.

The word telarian derives from the Latin tela, meaning web and is documented back to the 17th century.

Kids will love the word telarian because it’s about webs and spiders, and webs and spiders are magical and frightening all at the same time.

Use the word telarian with your kids and grandkids today, especially while looking for telarian creatures, both real and “fake” during this Halloween season.

Join me each day here for OCTOBER OBSOLETE – 365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS! – fun, easy and completely do-able!
