DAY 288 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids:
Obsolete words are no longer in general use and may have fallen out of favor for nearly a century or more, but who says obsolete and rarely used words can’t be revived by kids who love words?
Today’s word is OLID (o-lid), meaning having a strong, rank, disagreeably foul smell.
Kids love words such as crinigerous and cacodorous because they define things that kids love to love.
Add olid to the mix and you’ve got another fun-sounding word that kids love to love!
Now kids have a perfect way to discuss or write about things that are hairy, bad-smelling or downright foul-smelling.
Kids gravitate to things that are downright foul-smelling, so give them olid in their word arsenals… a great, fun, intelligent way to describe things like burps, sweat, gas, manure and the like.
Let’s put our noses to work and sniff a whiff of olid!
Use olid with your kids and grandkids today. Believe me, they’ll find it a reason!
And join me each day here for OCTOBER OBSOLETE – 365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS! – fun, easy and completely do-able!
