OCTOBER OBSOLETE: Reviving words that kids will love… like HEBETUDINOUS

365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS!

DAY 285 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids:

Obsolete words are no longer in general use and may have fallen out of favor for nearly a century or more, but who says obsolete and rarely used words can’t be revived by kids who love words?

Today’s word is HEBETUDINOUS, derived from the word hebetude , a noun meaning the condition or state of being dull, lethargic.

Ouch.

OK.  We may not be hebetudinous, but we’ve all felt hebetudinous from time to time.

Now your kids and grandkids have a word for that feeling of laziness or lethargy!

Kids will love the word hebetudionous when using it to describe someone or something else, but not so much if described as hebetudinous.

Use the word hebetudinous with your kids and grandkids today.  This may be the word to get everyone off the couch!

(Of course, knowing this word may lead to this:  “Mom, I’m feeling too hebetudinous to get out of bed today.”  That’s a risk we take with awesome words!)

Join me each day here for OCTOBER OBSOLETE – 365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS! – fun, easy and completely do-able!
