DAY 274 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids.
Obsolete words are no longer in general use and may have fallen out of favor for nearly a century, but who says they can’t be revived by kids who love words?
Today’s word is crinigerous (yes, I know I’ve used crinigerous before, but it bears repeating!)
crinigerous is an adjective meaning hairy or bearing hair, pronounced kri-nij-er-us. Kids can find lots of ways to use the word crinigerous. Trust me. There are insects, animals, mythical beings and lots of real people waiting to be described as crinigerous… such as the Screaming Hairy Armadillo, the Long-Haired Tarantula, Hairy Bears, Folklore Creatures such as Bigfoot and Grandpas!
Let’s dig crinigerous out from under all the hair and bring it back!
Use crinigerous today!
And join me each day here on OCTOBER OBSOLETE – 365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS! – fun, easy and completely do-able!
