You know when you’re around someone who is just so passion about something, it’s contagious!?

I mean… literally – you get excited because they’re excited!

That was what it was like meeting and lunching with Salma Hayek and listening to her talk about her Nuance line sold exclusively at CVS.

I was invited to a fabulous lunch in NYC with the CVS Beauty Club to meet and hear Salma Hayek talk about Nuance and the story behind it. I was blown AWAY by her energy, enthusiasm and passion for Nuance… truly, it gave me goosebumps… this is how everyone should be and feel about something they’re doing!

It all began with her grandmother. And there was something very special about listening to Salma talk about her grandmother and how she infused within Salma a love for beauty and delicious, natural products to use on your skin, face and body. I sat there with tears in my eyes because it brought me back to my own childhood and remembering what it was like to watch my own Nana (my dad’s mother) and my own Grandmother (my mom’s mom) get ready for the day, and functions and outings. I actually remember my Nana getting herself (as she would say) all dolled up for my Papa. She would change her clothes and add makeup and then go on with her cooking dinner and getting the house perfect for when he got from work. It’s amazing to think how beauty can truly make a woman feel so utterly confident in herself and so utterly beautiful. And then I think of my grandmother, who is 86 years old and STILL, I mean STILL loves to try on different makeups and do whatever she can to make herself feel beautiful. I love seeing that with age, she’s still vain. I know that may seem silly to say, but it truly keeps her feeling young, and as her granddaughter, that’s a beautiful sight to see. Salma made me smile to think back to those days… those days just sitting and just being utterly amazed by the beauty of my grandmothers.

One of my favorite story’s Salma told during our luncheon was something she said her grandmother told her a long time ago… it was a piece of advice her grandmother was passing along… she said to always keep a perfect shade of lipstick next to your bed, and then wake up an hour before your husband. Wake up and put lipstick on your lips and then blot some of your cheeks and look beautiful. And then when he wakes up, he will see this image of beauty. I LOVED that because I feel like in this day and age, with all the technology and all the craziness of life… we often forget about the simplicity of beauty and the way it can make us feel. Obviously Salma’s grandmother’s advice is silly and adorable, and Salma laughed as she told it, but I what I took away from that story was to care about yourself. Care about beauty, it’s OK to do that for yourself. It’s OK to want to look good for the people in your life that you love.

Nuance is all about bringing beauty to a woman.   Every single one of Salma’s products tells a story.  Every single one of Salma’s products was made with her grandmother in mind.  Every single one of Salma’s products is filled with a beautiful passion.

But it was awe-some to see Salma get so into and so inspired by her own products. It was absolutely incredible to see her eyes light up when someone asked about a product or see her smile go from ear to ear when someone mentioned they like a certain item.  I literally asked her if she planned on doing any beauty tutorials because she knew SO MUCH about the products and was an expert in telling us what you could and should use them for.  I’m not kidding… I forgot she was a mega-movie-super-star and there she was as this beauty expert at our luncheon. The best was when she actually got a woman out of her seat to come over to her and she covered the girls hand in foundation…

This is a woman who loves what she created. Nuance is something I’m absolutely excited to keep trying out because I know there was thought and love and patience and passion in everything. It’s wonderful to see.
