Couponing Tips and Money Saving Tips for the Fashionista

Couponing tips and money saving tips for the fashionista.

It seems like it’s all anyone is after nowadays!  And I don’t blame ANYONE because I’m exactly the same way when it comes to buying.

I may not be a master in the grocery store, but I can hold my own in a clothing store when it comes to deals, coupons and discounts. You just need to know some couponing tips and some savvy money saving tips and keep them in mind every time you head out shopping.

I’ve been getting a ton of emails lately asking me for some fashion coupons/discount codes for various retail stores. I, like everyone else just hate paying more money than I need to when it comes to clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup, etc! I have some money saving tips and advice I want to share with you:

Money saving tips for the Fashionista:

1) Google before you go ANYWHERE. I’m not kidding, just like master coupons will clip coupons for products that they regularly buy and use, I google regularly looking for coupons/discounts on stores I know and love. I never head out shopping unless I’ve run through my stores to see if there are any coupons available for in-store purchases.

2) Facebook is a beautiful thing. “LIKE” all of your favorite stores on Facebook because you will be offered special and exclusive deals only for Facebook friends. The GAP and Old Navy are notorious for deals like this just for Facebook fans.

3) Shop off-price! TJMaxx and Marshalls are my fave stores for looking for some fabulous deals on designer and brand named clothing, shoes and accessories! You don’t need coupons there because prices are up to 60% lower than department stores and malls. Their clearance racks are crazy cheap, too. I have scored PUMA shorts for the boys for $2.

4) If you’re an online shopper – Flash Sale Sites are KEY! Zulily is my favorite!

5) Save those receipts! GAP and Old Navy allow you to come back up to 2 weeks after purchases and they will scan your receipt and GIVE YOU MONEY BACK if any prices had gone down in the meantime. This is a HUGE perk! I’m one of those people that marks it on my calendar and always returns to see if I can get a better deal.

6) Asking doesn’t hurt.  I was just at Macy’s last week with my girlfriend while she picked up a bridesmaid dress for a wedding she’s in next month.  I (in passing) joked that she should ask the salesgirl if there were any coupons or deals going on right now.  My friend did… and low and behold, there was a 20% off coupon that she was able to use that weekend.  My advice – always, always ask!

These are great tips! Another one I’d add in would be that while you’re shopping online, see if you can find any promotional codes for your purchase. Many coupon aggregator sites act as a one-stop shop and offer exclusive codes for clothing, travel, jewelry, etc. (Disclaimer: I work for an online coupon site, PromotionalCodes.com) A great way to find extra savings.
