Grandma and a Bit of Bling!

Yesterday, I had a hair appointment.

You know the kind… a few days overdue and get me in that chair one!

I suppose I’m a little boring with my hair.  I pretty much stick with the same cut and color.  Maybe I venture out once-in-awhile and take another inch or so off

But.

Yesterday, when I was all smoothed out and ready to exit that little miracle chair, my hairdresser said, “How ’bout a little bling today?”

What? Maria knows I’m boring.

My mind raced to great knots and feathers and peacock colors.

But Maria was separating one silky strand of shimmery bling from a large, thick handful of shimmery bling.

“Aw.  Come on,” she said.  “Let me braid in one strand of bling.”

It was like she had asked me to strip naked and dance in army boots.

“Ummmmm. I don’t know,” I stammered.

But the single strand of shimmery bling was already being tied into my hair as Maria was explaining how easy it is to take it out.

And it was done.

One single strand of bling shimmered like diamonds as it cascaded and gently blended from my crown to chin.

“It’s pretty,” I said. “I like it!”

Then I quickly noted to self that no-one would notice my bling.  Awwwww.

But ya know what?  My Mom noticed it.  My husband noticed it.

And at dinner with our son and his family on a beautiful summer evening, my 10-year old granddaughter noticed it!

And they all LOVED it!

And each time I caught a glimpse in the mirror, the bling smiled back at me.

One single strand of shimmery bling got me all blingy both outside and INSIDE!

So what’s next?

Knots, feathers and peacock colors while dancing naked in army boots?

Who knows?!
