I’m all about the clothes for back to school, that excites me beyond excites me.  New tees.  New tanks.  New jeans.  New shoes.  New everything!

For my sons, I’m not kidding, it’s all about the pencil sharpener.  (So not kidding!) 🙂

About 4 weeks ago, we were at a routine doctor’s appointment, and my sons heard a “grrrrrrrrrrr-inding” sound.  They all looked over at the receptionist sharpening a pencil.  To them, that was the coolest thing they had ever seen. As a matter of fact, they asked her to do it again and again and again. And bless her… she sharpened about 10 pencils!

My son Alex (who will be entering kindergarten this fall) turned to me and asked through this sharpening, “Will they have those at my new school?”

I smiled and (honestly not sure) said, “Maybe.”

And maybe wasn’t good enough.  He wanted one.  He wanted one at home. He said, “Mom… I bet big boys use those!”

I smile as I write this because I see my son Alex identifying being a “big boy” with being able to use a pencil sharpener.  It’s absolutely, positively adorable and I love it and this is something I will forever love and cherish about his first thoughts of school.

So what did I do?

I went out and bought a sharpener that made noise (as he put it).

Ahh… a prized possession for his pencils.  It warms my heart.
