TOY STORIES: The BUNGY TRAMPOLINE on Day 189 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids!

Every TOY or GAME has a STORY to share with kids.

Today, it’s the BUNGY TRAMPOLINE’S turn to tell its story (with a little help from Grandma Sharon)…

Grandma Sharon on the Bungy Trampoline at a 4th of July Carnival!

WHO invented the Bungy Trampoline:  While the Bungy Trampoline is a very newly invented device, the art of trampolining goes back centuries.  Walrus skins, blankets, beds and springs have been used to toss and propel people into the air… for sheer fun.  Circus and comedy routines have been built around the principles of the trampoline.

And just for fun… the word trampoline derives from the French trampolare, meaning to go on stilts.  Makes sense!

WHAT is a Bungy Trampoline:  The Bungy Trampoline combines the elements of Bungy with the Trampoline using a body harness, attached to bungee cords (elastic tension devices), and the trampoline.

The Bungy Trampoline invention:  Pacific Fly Motion Pty Ltd. operates the Patented Eurobungy 4-in-1 Bungy Trampoline, the world’s original Bungy Trampoline, and it’s the one seen in the photograph in this post.

WHY was the Bungy Trampoline invented:  The Bungy Trampoline combines amusement, recreation, challenge and fun.  On the Bungy Trampoline, a jumper can jump very high and perform turnovers in mid-air while feeling safely attached to a body-harness.

Then there’s the jumping 2-stories high part and seemingly defying gravity… jumping down, propelling up… gaining confidence in the height to try a somersault or two!

HOW does the Bungy Trampoline work:  A jumper is fitted into a body harness apparatus while standing on a mini-trampoline.  The body harness is attached with 2 bungy cords to 2 tall poles on each side of the trampoline.  The jumper holds onto the bungy cords and begins to jump.  The bungy cords tighten as the jumper jumps higher… and the trampoline gives the jumper great springing motion.

Bouncing up...
... and UP!
... and OVER!
6-year old William taking his turn...
Way UP...
... into a double somersault!

Ah.  The Bungy Trampoline. Introduce your kids and grandkids to this incredibly fun game of amusement! Heck… get on it yourself and soar to new heights!  This’ll give new meaning to your own “ta-dah!”  (Grandma Sharon was able to manage a single “ta-dah” but never quite maneuvered the double somersault!)

Join me here each day in July for TOY STORIES on 365 Days of Literacy for Kids! A little fun, a little learning and a little “ta-dah!”
