My Pampers Miracle Mission

Pampers “For every little miracle” campaign is a campaign that touches my heart in ways I cannot even begin to describe. You may have heard of the campaign already, which launched in conjunction with the brand’s 50th birthday. It reflects Pampers philosophy that no matter who they are, and how they come into the world – every baby is a little miracle.

Pampers goal is to celebrate and support every baby. This campaign pays tribute to the tremendous cultural shift in the notions of traditional family and the road to parenthood that’s taken place over the last five decades…

And so, Pampers gave me the opportunity to do my own Miracle Mission. I chose to make care packages for the moms and dads who have babies in the NICU at my local hospital here in Rhode Island – Women and Infants. It was important for me to do this because 33 years ago, I was one of those babies and my mom and dad were those parents.

This experience changed my life.

As I made my way up to the NICU with my mom and 2 of my 4 sons, I met various members of the NICU staff and was just blown away by all of them. They were the most kind, most sweet, most caring and most wonderful people in the world. They were so touched by the Pampers Miracle Mission and I was just so touched by all they do every single day. One of the nurses said to me, which I feel embodies everything, “We’re just here to make sure the babies go home with their parents.” How very, very true.

One of the social workers at the hospital was kind enough to introduce me to one of the NICU moms, a woman named Beth. I was touched by the fact that she didn’t have a problem at all coming to meet us and to share her story about her beautiful son Brice. Her son Brice – due June 26th – was born at 26 weeks. He’s been at Women and Infants Hospital and hasn’t been able to go home yet, which just breaks my heart. Beth was open and honest and just one of the sweetest ladies… I was honored to meet her and hear about her son Brice.

Here’s me and Beth with the tote she choose!

I actually went back to Women and Infants the next day to meet baby Brice. He is beautiful!

This Miracle Mission was just the first for me, and I plan to do whatever I can, always for the hospital… thank you for giving me this opportunity. I am going to take on many, many more missions now!

This is absolutely awesome, being that I was one of those moms I gave birth to twins prematurely at 33 weeks at women and infants hospital.Who thinks or is actually ever prepared for a premature birth. We lived 45 minutes from the hospital,I had a c-section,I nursed the babies and one more thing I had a one year old at home! My husband is self employed and we were building a home at the time and he was the general contractor.Talk about survival mode. The hardest thing was trying to find preemie onesies or tiny little outfits for preemie babies.Mine were 3 lbs. and 4lbs. and diapers were tough even the preemie diapers were too big!I see in the stores more availability of preemie clothing which is great, sad though in a way because premature births are increasing.I must say that the treatment we received at women and infants hospital (for my preterm labor at 7 months and then for the babies delivery)was absolutely wonderful. The nurses, nicu staff, housekeeping and doctors were excellent.I knew when I was being discharged and my babies had to stay, they were exactly where they needed to be and in very good hands. So much so after a while they wanted to transfer them to a hospital closer to home(to help us out) but we chose to keep them there,I didn’t have as much faith in the hospital closer to home.Thank you Audrey and family for thinking of the little miracles and their families.
