Hydrangeas and a Touch of Magic

Hydrangeas along our 200-year old wall...

We can talk all we want about pH levels in soil.

We can fertilize ’til the cows come home.

W can set up elaborate watering systems or just use old watering cans.

We can plan.  We can prepare.  We can plot.

But Mother Nature has the last word.

Always…

As evidenced this year by our Hydrangeas.

Barry and I love Hydrangeas.  We love their beauty.  Their fullness.  Their luxurious simplicity.

We planted a row of Hydrangeas a few years ago along a very old wall that encloses one side of our back yard.

This year, Mother Nature has sent us a glorious rainbow…

Pink... for our granddaughters, I'm sure!
Blue... for our grandsons, I'm sure!
Lavender... for our angels!
And delicate laces of White... for our Bride-to Be!

Barry and I mixed up the soil a bit this year.  We planted tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers between each Hydrangea.  We even planted tiny Marigolds as a gritter-defense border to our Hydrangeas and vegetables…

And Mother Nature took over from there with her glorious colors and touches of magic!

I agree with Jane – Beautiful! I love hydrangeas too. I hope Mother Nature does as well with those tomatoes and cucumbers you’ve planted in between – nothing better than growing your own 🙂
