Check-in for Checkups with Clorox and Children’s Health Fund (CHF)

I’m honored to be partnering with Clorox and the Children’s Health Fund (CHF) to do some good this summer.

Through a new social media-driven campaign, Clorox and CHF are working to encourage healthy habits and help provide health care to disadvantaged children. This is the second year CHF and Clorox are partnering and this year’s program is called Check-in for Checkups.

For each check-in that you do, Clorox will donate 10 cents, up to $100,000, to CHF to help support their goal of providing half a million health care visits to children in need across the country. What’s amazing is that now when you check-in with your healthy habit, you are not only helping yourself, but also the lives of others. The more you check-in, the more you give back to disadvantaged children across the country. This issue is of the utmost importance since one in five children in the U.S. live in poverty and millions of children don’t have access to regular check-ups and timely health care visits when sick.

My healthy habit that I will be committing to and checking-in with is walking every night for 30 minutesin my neighborhood. It’s a bit of a lofty goal to check-in with every night, but it’s something that’s important to me and I am absolutely committed to going for it. I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I haven’t consistently working out in over 6 years. I used to be a workout machine, I would find the time to fit it into my routine, no questions asked. Now I’m a mom… and it has become a little more difficult for me to juggle in the workout time. There are really only a two times during the day when I can possibly do it – in the early morning or in the evening – when the boys are in bed. With it being so light in the evenings now, I know I have a window from 7-8:30PM where I can go out and get a good 30 minutes in.

When I workout, I feel creative and strong and healthy… these are things I crave to feel right now. And most important, it’s good for me. I work so many hours and travel so much, that I know I need to make sure that my body is being taken of, that it’s not just tossed aside. I need to make the time for myself to maintain a healthy body, mind and soul. This is so important for me.

I’m excited to be working with such a great group of ambassadors… Dawn Jackson Blatner, Beth Blecherman, Melanie Edwards, Landry Fields, Carlo Garcia, Holly Homer and Trista Sutter.
