What NOT to Wear in Washington D.C.

I’ve spent the past 3 days in Washington D.C. walking around the National Mall, Arlington, Georgetown and inside various museums. I have personally had a blast! Watching my sons enjoy the same sights I did as a child has been incredible for me, it’s been a tradition I absolutely want to continue with my sons.

But… and this is a BIG BUT… my feet have seen better days.

I bought a pair of strappy sandals that were supposed to keep me comfortable on long days of walking. I was wrong, they didn’t. I was disappointed because I had looked high and low for a pair of sandals that were flat, had reinforcement straps (wouldn’t fly off) and had stretchy-material straps (which they did).

Fashionable, yes.
Comfortable for 8 hour walking, no.

I should have just worn sneakers. This would have been the smart thing to do, maybe not the most fashionable.. but truly, my feet and my ankles wouldn’t be so sore today! I should have worn these babies, which I did bring, but never took out!

I can totally relate to your experience! A couple years ago I worked in DC for a summer and thought it would be a good idea to walk to work in pumps…wrong! I quickly learned why women in business clothes wore tennis shoes to work everyday.
