When I was pregnant with my son 4th son, little Henry, we received the softest, most delicious swaddle blanket I had ever held… it was from aden + anais. I was a fan from first touch (as was Henry) of his green Wishing Star Swaddle Blanket. Out of all my sons, Henry was my swaddle boy. He loved to be tucked and snuggled and swaddled in his blankie, and believe me… I can understand why! After falling in love with our first aden + anais swaddle blanket, they became a true staple in our home. I truly loved the “blankies,” as they’re called in my house.

But it wasn’t until I read the story behind aden + anais when I fully truly understood and LOVED the line… it was a product made by a mother, out of necessity for her baby and a love of her roots.

As a young woman growing up in Australia, our founder Raegan Moya-Jones was introduced to many traditional practices of motherhood. One of them in particular– swaddling babies in generously sized, gentle muslin sheets– amazed her. Even the fussiest babies seemed to sleep more peacefully in muslin. Despite the hot days and the cold nights, muslin swaddles helped keep babies comfortable. And, most importantly, the very act of swaddling seemed to build a bond between mothers and their babies.
When she moved to the U.S. and started her own family, Raegan couldn’t find any swaddles like the ones she remembered from home. The only swaddles available were too small. Or made of much-too-thick flannel. Or, simply, unattractive.
And so, aden + anais was born.

Raegan added some fashion sense to the muslin and magic was born! Her idea has delighted and enchanted moms and dads all over, and most of all… the babies that have been lucky enough to have aden + anais items!
