52 Weeks of Giving: Week 19

Each week throughout 2011 I will share how I am giving back somehow, whether it’s by offering my resources, my time, my talents or my support.

Giving back doesn’t have to be on a grand scale. And doesn’t have to be about money.

Oftentimes charities, organizations, causes and foundations need support beyond donations. And that’s what I’m going to try to focus on.

I will be sharing what I’m doing each week; perhaps you, too, will be inspired to give back.

Together we can make a difference.

I went through the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru the other day and there was a boy (with his father) standing on the sidewalk, collecting money for a local Little League. I loved playing softball as a young girl and wanted to give some money to this little guy – but I had no cash on me. In fact, I had left my wallet at home and had just told the drive-thru cashier that I was going to have to come back to pay for and take my iced tea!

So I told the boy and his dad that I was coming back around for my iced tea and that I would donate then. I think the dad thought I was trying to brush them off because when I actually did return he said, “Oh! You really came back!”

I donated my dollar and felt good about it. It was just a little give this week… but every little bit counts, right?
