I love it when fashion is doing something good. Genuinely good.
I was recently introduced to Mel’s Bracelet.
The Friends of Mel Foundation was created in honor of Mel Simmons, a loving mother, flight attendant and devoted humanitarian who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2005. During chemotherapy, a fellow flight attendant brought Mel colorful bracelets from abroad, which Mel gave to staff and other patients in the hospital. Interest in purchasing the bracelets soon spread, and the concept behind “Mel’s Bracelets” was born. When Mel lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer, her friends decided to continue to sell “Mel’s Bracelets” to fund research and support individuals.
This is what I personally love about Mel’s Bracelets… they tell a story.
I’ve been wearing my Mel’s Bracelet out and about, when I look down at the beautiful colors and designs on the beads, I smile.
I think of Mel. I think of this incredible woman who is making a difference, now more than ever.
She’s impacted the world with her beautiful bracelets and they are spreading such good, such love and such happiness.
As a token of friendship and symbol of a community committed to supporting those affected by cancer, Mel’s Bracelet is the perfect gift for Mother’s Day – they embody the love, the power and the beauty of the Day. The original bracelet with colorful beads and silver plated inserts is available for a minimum donation of $15 to the Friends of Mel Foundation. A special edition version of Mel’s bracelet featuring genuine Swarovski crystal rondelles is also available for a minimum donation of $45 and arrives elegantly packaged and ready for gifting. The original bracelet is imported from Turkey and the special edition bracelet is assembled in Massachusetts by the Association for Retarded Citizens. Donations for either bracelet are tax deductible.
By supporting the Friends of Mel Foundation, you can make a difference for someone who has been touched by cancer.
