Week 9: Clean Start Challenge

So… this was how this week has gone so for us:

Monday night was swimming night, followed by a trip to the grocery store.

Tuesday night the kids went with me to visit my parents while I helped them fix something on their computer.

Both nights we got home around 8:30PM. By that time I was waving the white flag… and literally, there was no time to sit and read with the boys.

These types are nights are not always typical. But after talking to so many moms over the last 9 weeks, I’ve come to discover that this is what happens. Not to mention, there more kids you have, and the more activities they’re involved in… the harder it can get.

BUT! There are things you can do to help prevent reading night from falling through the cracks… SCHEDULE IT IN!

This week in my Clean Start Challenge video, I talk about some different ideas that people have had… and how they continually find the time to fit it in… it’s VERY inspiring!

Watch the video HERE.

I now have a list hanging upstairs with 4 things on it for the boys to do at night:
1. Put jammies on
2. Brush teeth
3. Put clothes in the hamper
4. Pick out a book

(They love lists!)

Plus… I’ve come to realize I need organization in the bedtime routine… and reading falls under that.

We’re making it 100% part of the night and scheduling it in. If… there comes a time like it has been the last 2 nights in our house, I’m not going to stress, about it, and then just work on the next night. But I love the idea of making at part of the set routine.

And please… I would love love love love your vote as I try and raise 10K for First Book charity. It has become such a passion for me, and I would love to do everything I possibly can to spread the word and awareness!!
