The Magic of Disney (for me)

The Disney Social Media Mom Conference changed my life last year. This is why I absolutely wanted to go back again this year.

Let me take you back to February 2010.

I was sitting next to this girl named Vera at one of the presentations. We’d met briefly a few other times at some events in NYC, but we’d never gotten to know each other. We just happened to be sitting next to each other at one of the weekend event’s and we just hit it off in an instant. It was there, in that moment, when we started talking about BlogHer and Getting Gorgeous and the idea to truly bring it to life. From that moment throughout the rest of the weekend, whenever we could, we hung out together.

And then fast forward one full year. March 2011.

We pulled off out first Getting Gorgeous Event last August and have 3 more planned in 2011… it’s become an extension of ourselves and our brands. And not only that, Vera’s become a best friend to me along the way. This year we were back at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference together. We stayed together in the same room. We hung out all weekend. We’re now business partners.. and that’s because of this weekend.

At Epcot... a year later!

Disney is a magical place. But there’s something about it that’s also very inspiring and motivating. As little kids we believe in happily-ever-afters and that you can be anything you want to be. As we get older, sometimes we drift away from truly believing in those statements. At Disney, regardless of your age, it all comes back. Anything is possible. You can be anything. You can do anything. There is a such a thing as a happily-ever-after. Dreams do come true.

It’s that inspiration that fuels me… the Social Media Moms Conference was that to me. It’s the friendships that are made. It’s the merging of ideas. It’s the beauty of dreaming BIG together. It’s the coming together of all of us and having a wonderful, magical time. It’s truly where you can make your own dreams come true… by believing in yourself, and finding others who believe in you, too.

The weekend was amazing and inspiring and fabulous. I got to hang out with incredible women, learn incredible things and do incredible things!
