I love gaining an extra hour of light in the evenings courtesy of Daylight Savings, but the first day is always tough for me, knowing I’m losing an hour of sleep.

I had gone to bed after midnight last night, so when Brian woke me up at 8:45 a.m. this morning I couldn’t get over the fact that it was “really” 7:45 a.m. and therefore way too early to be waking up on a Sunday vacation day.

Brian had already gone for a 6-mile run by this time, and he was waking me up so we could make 9:30 a.m. Mass.

When we got to church it really hit me that the weather here in Florida is much different than it is in Rhode Island right now.  The air conditioning was on. I was wearing a tank top. Ahh… I can’t say enough how wonderful it is, after the winter we’ve had in New England, to be able to leave the house without a jacket.

After church I went on a run that felt pretty great… it was my “long run” day, but since I’m still coming back from taking time off, I’m hoping I didn’t push it too hard on account of feeling so good.

It was just so nice to be able to go on a run wearing only shorts and a tank top. And whereas back home you don’t see a ton of people out exercising since it’s still kind of chilly, here it seems like everyone is outside running, walking, biking, rollerblading or golfing.

Again, ahh…

The rest of the day Brian and I hung out by the pool and and on the beach which, as you know, is par for the course here.

Oh, and I took a walk along the beach while Brian was off grabbing a few things at the store. I took a self-portrait, which Brian later made fun of me for. 🙂

We finished the evening with some drinks by the pool and some dinner in the condo.

Tomorrow? Up bright and early so Brian can run and then we can swim laps together.

And then? We shall see! Ahh… vacation. 🙂
