A lovely Valentine’s Day

Two years ago today I tagged along on my parents’ Valentine’s Day date.

I was very newly single and didn’t much feel like celebrating a day honoring love, but hey, I had to eat.

We ate at a restaurant right down the street from their house and sat at the bar.

Since they ate their often, they knew the bartenders well.

One of the bartenders told us about how he had made chocolate-covered strawberries for his fiance. He was so proud and I could tell by the way he talked that he was so in love with her.

His fiance worked at the restaurant, too. She showed up for work while we were still there, and soon after she arrived a bouquet of flowers was delivered to her.

I will admit, I was envious. I hoped I, too, would find someone who enjoyed doing little things he knew would make me happy.

Two years later, this morning, I woke up to an email directing me to a comment Brian had left on my previous blog post (comments from Brian are rare occurrences).

When I went downstairs, there was a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for me, along with a sweet note from Brian.

Dinner was pizza, which we ate as we snuggled on the couch watching Jeopardy. Dessert? Ice cream cake, as suggested by Brian, because it’s my favorite and he knew it would make me happy.

A surprise comment on my blog… a beautiful bouquet of flowers… a low-key, no frills dinner and Jeopardy.

It was a lovely Valentine’s Day… a day that reminded me once again how very lucky I am to have someone who enjoys doing things he knows will make me happy.

And happy I am.

Minus the ice cream cake (yum) it sounds similar to mine and I say perfect too! I’m glad you are Happy – the more I learn, I can see why. Hugs!
