On holidays and finding holiday cheer…

It seems like just yesterday that I was saying it was too early for radio stations to be playing holiday music. And now the the holiday season is almost over!

I usually love the holidays, but this year I have found it difficult to get 100% into the holiday spirit. With Sethy being sick (which makes me worry), the sharing custody thing (which makes me sad) has been tougher than ever for me, and I’m finding that, especially as it gets closer to me having to give them to my ex-husband, I’m just… down.

The weeks I have with Ryder and Seth seem to go by so quickly, and that has only made the holiday season go by ever faster than usual.

There are so, so many things in my life for which I am immensely grateful and thankful, so sometimes I get mad at myself for focusing on the things that aren’t exactly how I’d like them to be.

But letting go of things over which I have no control? It has never been my strong suit.

I’m working on it.

A few things have added some much-needed holiday cheer, though, like our Christmas card…

and Brian putting up a bunch of Christmas lights. Check out his efforts here:

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. 🙂

Jane, that is such a precious Christmas card! I can only imagine how you are feeling. I’ve also been through a shared custody situation and because of what is going on with Seth it is very natural for all of this to be that much harder for you! And despite the season, I’m sure that all the people that love and care for you completely understand your focus is somewhere else – you are not alone. I’m praying for Seth. Merry Christmas to you, Brian and your three, beautiful furry kids! And lots of Hugs!!
