Lifetime’s Clean Start Challenge 2011

I’m really excited to be participating in Lifetime’s Clean Start Challenge 2011 presented by Lifetime Moms and SC Johnson.

Clean Start’s are the best way to kick off a New Year. I always have loved the newness and excitement that a New Year brings. The feeling that anything is possible!

Starting in January the Lifetime Moms are working to build some Clean Start’s in their communities. Myself, Stephanie Ellie and Beth Feldman have all chosen a mission that is dear to our hearts… and we are taking that personal and particular mission and going into our community to make positive change.

My mission and goal is to increase literacy. Growing up with parents who were teachers, I have always believed in the power of a good book. As a mom of 4, I also now understand how busy and crazy our lives can get… my goal is to bring awareness to parents and schools about the true importance of reading and how it can enhance your child’s learning abilities and imagination! I see how excited my sons get when we all read together, it’s a pretty amazing sight.

Join us over the next 12 weeks as we challenge ourselves to accomplish our goal. I will be working with the Kent County YMCA in creating a Reading Garden and working on a Book Drive. I’m very excited about getting going!

I have chosen First Book is the organization I have chosen to partner with. First Book provides new books to children in need addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. I want to raise money for them and all that they do for children!

What a great challenge. Hats off to you and your friends.

The power of being able to read is amazing. I can still remember my mother reading books to us and then challenging us to be reading a book all the time.

    Blessings,

    Mark

Please let me know if you are in need of any gently used books. I have kids and adults books and love to share with others. I live in Rhode Island so could easily drop them off anywhere in the area. Pam 🙂
