Of all the words strung together in one magnificent sentence… breathing life into a memory… it is this gift of words: “The heat of the stove felt warm on my skin.”
These words are part of a little essay assignment that my granddaughter Taylor wrote about last Thanksgiving. Taylor gave me the essay as she came into our kitchen this Thanksgiving. As I read it, my heart felt as warm as that stove… and I remembered then that children remember the feels and sounds of holidays better than any gift…
The ding of the oven. The voices. The heat of the stove… all wrapped up in LOVE.
Taylor has a sense for family and all the warmth that envelops it. Yes, the simple feels and sounds are the greatest gifts of all.
Thank you, beautiful Taylor. I will always treasure your essay! I love you forever!

So sweet. I think you have quite the talented writer on your hands!
This essay- written with such clear, unedited love, that knows no bounds- has me in tears- you are a lucky grandma:)

Such a heart warming essay..I would frame it and bring it out every Thanksgiving to sit on the counter as you cook.
Rhonda… that’s exactly what I told Taylor I’m going to do! Great minds think alike!!!! xo!
So incredibly sweet! Love it!
So precious…….she loves tradition’s and adore’s her Grandma!
Yes, I agree with Rhonda. That is too precious and beautiful an essay not to frame and enjoy year after year. Kids are amazing and this little granddaughter of yours seems to have inherited her grandmother’s talent for writing 🙂 Warmed my heart.
Rhonda took my idea. Be sure to have it laminated so it stays nice. Looks like Taylor might just be an awesome writer like her grandma.
