Decorating for the Holidays

As soon as Halloween was over, I had every single black/orange pail-bat-spider-ghost-pumpkin down by midnight on November 1st. It was (in my mind) officially time to get ready for the Holidays!

I developed a love for decorating from my Nana and my mother. Every season brought decorations, with Christmas time being the most decorated time of all. ‘Til this day I get giddy when I know it’s “that time of year.” Being a mother of 4 little boys, I want them to know the same excitement and anticipation that I had as a child. It’s a FUN time of year.

So… when Pier 1 invited me to visit their stores and check out their seasonal holiday decor, I immediately accepted!

At first, I went right to Pier1.com to check out what kinds of items they had. I loved that Holiday shopping was made easy by “style” – Couture Christmas, Yuletide Treasures, Gilded Forest, Flights of Fantasy and Merry & Bright. It was so easy for me to peruse the site. After I got a little taste of what’s there… I headed on in. And not alone. I brought all of my sons with me! I wanted to have their help in picking out some amazing new items for our household. Pier 1 really has such amazing stuff in their store right now, and it was actually really difficult to pick just a few things. I wanted it all!

From ornaments…

To Table Settings…

To Decorative Pillows…

To FABULOUS Holiday Gifts…

I walked around checking out all the amazing selections and honed in on a few items.

I knew I needed platters for the Holiday season. Each year on Christmas Day we host my family for the evening. That means, I end up cooking and baking (which I love), but last year I realized I was down on some platters, so this was my must-have this holiday! As soon as I saw this retro Candy Cane Sign Platter, I knew it had to be mine –

Along with some platters, I knew I desperately needed some place mats. I wanted some that were classic and chic looking.
I chose gorgeous square red designs and some really chic snowflake place mats with a bell on the end of each flake. They are the PERFECT addition to my Christmas meal.

Another addition I love about Pier 1, during the months of November and December, you can support Toys for Tots by dropping off an unwrapped toy and/or making a cash donation at the register. And if you LIKE Pier 1 Imports on Facebook during the month of November, Pier 1 will donate $1 to Toys for Tots.
