I Survived the Birthday Party… (thank you Backyard Discovery!)

Honest to God, I feel foolish for being so nervous and stressed about the boys’ party. I don’t know why I was. I’m not a type-A person at all, but for some reason I was totally trying to over think the party for the boys. I wanted to make sure there were games and a plan and fun had by ALL (even the parents).

It’s funny because my husband, mother and friend all said to me, “You know what 5 and 6 year old boys want to do? RUN around!”  I decided not to rent a bouncy house or anything else and just let the boys run and play on our new Backyard Discovery, which I decorated with orange and black streamers and “spider webs!”  The kids had an absolute BLAST!

So I let it go… and figured, the boys just wanted to have fun. STOP. OVER. THINKING. IT. I had 2 pinatas (thanks to my mother-in-law) which we hung on the Playset…

… and off-the-hook goodie bags (again, thanks to my mother-in-law) and just let the birthday party day go… and you know what, it turned out great!  The kids ran around and chased each other and just enjoyed some fun time together.  I couldn’t have been more relieved!  I loved watching my sons climb and swing and slide with huge smiles on their faces!

We went with the Halloween theme, everyone had to come dressed up! Thanks so JAKKS’ Pacific, Alexander, Benjamin and Henry were all Toy Story characters (which will double as their Halloween costumes)…

Woody!

Little Buzz

One of my friends asked if her boys could do some fun experiments… to which I said, “ABSOLUTELY!” And truth be told, this was the hit of the party!

Rocket Blasting!

The weather was great. Our guests were great. I got to carry around some PINK…

My friend Steph's beautiful new baby girl (10 days old!), Caroline!

The kids had a BLAST!!

Attempting to get them all to smile!

So to my little guys William and Alexander… I hope you had a GREAT day! You’ve been counting down since this summer for the party! I hope your wishes come true! (And Alex got to blow out his candles again!)

Love you guys!

My guys...

We’ve all been guilty of thinking we need to do more than coordinate the having of fun in whatever form it takes. Looks like a day of beautiful memories.
