Christian Siariano Spring 2011 Show at Fashion Week is Mom Ready

NYC Fashion Week as a mom spectator sometimes makes me nervous.

I say this with past experience of seeing runway shows with the shortest of the short minis… the tightest of the tight corsets… and the sheerest of the sheer tops.  I just can’t see any of those items being acceptable to pre-school and kindergarten drop-off.  I can see it now, “Um… Mrs. McClelland, do you mind dropping off William, Alexander and Benjamin from your car? We really don’t need you walking them in.”

NYC Fashion Week defines styles and upcoming trends.  I watch now with mom eyes, not with the eyes (that I used to have) as a 20-something New Yorker wanting to look just like the cast of Sex and the City.

I was blown away… I mean, BLOWN AWAY… by Christian Siariano’s Spring 2011 collection.  Quite frankly, I would wear anything.  There wasn’t one item I looked at and shrugged to.  I loved it all.  But what I loved most about it was that it was MOM READY.  Forget Ready to Wear… let’s talk MOM Ready to Wear… and his collection hit this mark perfectly.  His inspiration for his Spring 2011 collection was  a mixture of various cultures from places he hasn’t been; “A bit of African, a bit of Asian, a bit of Mediterranean-Greek.”  Well, Christian… you inspired me.  And these were my stand-out faves:
