Carnival Cruise Day 1

Not even a rainy day could wipe the smiles off our faces as we boarded our Carnival Cruise ship, Pride.  When we pulled up to the port, I got worried seeing so many cars.  I thought we’d be waiting for for every check-in, go through security and get our tickets assigned to us.  I was pleasantly surprised as to how smoothly and quickly it all went.  Traveling with 4 boys isn’t always the easiest of things to do, so having everything be quick and easy made our lives easier.

We boarded the ship around 2PM, grabbed some lunch on-board and then met up with Colleen and her family.  My sons LOVE Kenzie and Kyle, so it’s wonderful to all be here together enjoying the cruise. The kids entertained us while Colleen and I tried to snap photos of them!  All they wanted to do was go into the pool, but with the rain… it just didn’t make sense.  We must have said to them, “tomorrow, tomorrow… we promise!” 100 times!

After, we checked into our rooms. We have two rooms because of the amount of people I have in my family.  It works out well because the rooms are right next door to each other.  I think we’ll all end up bunking up together because nobody wants to sleep without mommy AND daddy, but we’ll make do.

The boys just thought exploring the ship all afternoon was the coolest thing ever!  The ship is gigantic… I really think they thought we would be on a small ship for 7-days, so seeing their eyes get wider and wider was the cutest thing.  We already have a checklist for what we need to do tomorrow:  kiddie pool, big pool, water slide, mini-golf and basketball.  I love that there is so much to do right on the ship because it really makes it easy for parents.  Plus, we’re going to be signing them into Kid Camp.  We went to the orientation tonight and met the staff – what an energetic bunch of people!  They were so kind and so sweet.  I’m a little nervous about leaving the boys there, but it made me feel better to see them and get an agenda of all the activities planned for them tomorrow.  It’s non-stop fun!

When we went back to our room tonight to get the boys ready for bed, we couldn’t get over the spectacular view from our balcony as we were sailing through the Chesapeake Bay, so gorgeous and peaceful and relaxing.  This is just the kind of vacation we needed…

So… I’m heading to bed.  Had a wonderful first day of cruising!  I have some video footage that I shot, but with the internet being a bit slow (it says it needs 2 hours to upload), I promise to share video once we’re home!

Must go get some sleep now to get myself rested for tomorrow and pray for some SUN!
