Swimsuit for Mom: GiGi by Gillian Gabriel

Gillian Gabriel had me at, “Ever get the feeling that bathing suits were designed by someone who really, really doesn’t like you?… I think every woman should own a flattering, attractive suit. A suit that loves you back.”

GiGi by Gillian Gabriel – perfection in a swimsuit for moms. It’s almost mind-boggling – someone actually got it right. It’s the Little Black Dress of bathing suits!

I don’t know about you, but when I’m looking for a swimsuit I usually have to try on about 15 different styles. Being 5 feet tall and a little (ahem) small on top, it’s not the easiest thing for me to find a bathing suit that I’m happy in and with. Not to mention, I’m chasing four little boys around the beach and pool deck… as much as I love bikinis, they’re not exactly “stable” when you’re chasing, swimming and darting after little ones. I needed a one-piece that was going to make me feel confident enough to swim in it… yet, make me look feminine and fashionable enough to wear it.

I was sent a GiGi suit to try out about 6 weeks ago. With bathing suits, I need to make sure they stand up to the test of time. Does chlorine make it fade? Does the sun fade it out? Is the quality good? Is the fabric thick enough where I won’t feel naked on a pool deck? Is it flattering? Will it stay PUT (really, my #1 concern)?

My GiGi is FABULOUS! I got the black one (it also comes in white, chocolate and pink)… and it really is the perfect Little Black Suit –

I’m usually not this excited about a bathing suit… but this one really is one to get excited about. I know a huge concern for women is the fit and style… which it should be. We want to look good and feel good on the pool deck and/or beach. We don’t want to be hiding under cover-ups and towels all day! The ruching on the sides of the suit…

… is a woman’s best friend. It’s amazing that Gillian Gabriel took ruching to a bathing suit, which truly is the best way to flatter your tummy area/region. Let’s face it – as moms, our tummy region has expanded once or twice (or more!), and to have this ruching helps to disguise and/or hide anything you’re not happy with. The lining is great, too, because it really gives you a smooth look, which is something we normally look for in a swimsuit and just can’t find. It’s refreshing to see a suit that “gets” it. Also – for someone like me, the cups are removable – you can have them or not (guess which I picked?). And one thing that I really love about the suit is that it has a 4-way stretch fabric. I didn’t realize most swimsuits have a 2-way stretch fabric… so right away you notice a difference with the suit moving easily with your body.

I really love the GiGi… I think it’s a suit that will flatter most every woman, and really make her feel confident and (dare I say) glamorous in it.

*I was sent the GiGi to review.
