Sylvania Challenge: No Video Games

In continuing the Sylvania Earth Day Challenge, I did something that I wasn’t sure how was going to go over too well with my sons. I hid their video game console. They love playing video games in the afternoon. They sit on the couch, with the lights on… TV on… and video console on. Talk about wasting electricity! I didn’t even have to look far or think hard about making some simple changes. Without doubt… getting rid of the video games this month. It’s something that I have been wanting to do for various reasons, but in honor of Sylvania’s Earth Day Challenge, I had a much-needed nudge.

That’s right… I told them NO VIDEO GAMES. It didn’t go over too well at first…

So what did we do? Well… over the Holiday weekend, with the weather SUPER GORGEOUS we played outside! And something happened that was beautiful to see – my sons were playing together. And… having a GOOD TIME! It was wonderful to see them building blocks and creating imaginative places and playing basketball. They had a blast outside together. We had natural sunlight. A beautiful day. Each other. And… the best part, we were being energy-efficient.

What are you doing in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day? Come on… take the SYLVANIA challenge to take energy-efficient actions at home and at work! There’s still time to get involved! See what you can do to make a difference!

Everyone who takes the challenge will be rewarded a coupon for $1-off the new SYLVANIA Halogen SUPERSAVER® or CFL.
