Downy’s Touch of Comfort Program is doing something absolutely amazing with award-winning actress and star of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Chandra Wilson. Last year, Downy partnered with Quilts for Kids, Inc. and Chandra Wilson, to launch the Downy Touch of Comfort Program. Since this partnership, Downy has delivered thousands of quilts to hospitalized children nationwide, bringing them each a small, but very meaningful and special, “touch of comfort.”

Being a mother of 4 little boys, this program really spoke to me… I viewed this through the eyes of a mother. To know and to see that “virtual strangers” were taking the time to personally make a quilt for one of my son’s if they were hospitalized… it just touched my heart in such a profound way.

Downy’s Touch of Comfort program has pledged to deliver 10,000 more quilts to children this year. In celebration of its 50th year, Downy fabric softener has launched a new specially-marked bottle, with five cents from every purchase helping to provide comforting quilts to hospitalized children. It’s truly a remarkable thing that they’re doing.

I had the chance this past Saturday to speak with Chandra about her involvement and what people can do to get involved.
