"Second only to watching my Mom open lingerie…"

Mom Lingerie is ONE thing you don’t want to see your mom opening on the holidays. Am I right? (Please say I’m right!) After the holidays, this little ditty rang loudly and clearly across the web… Back to life, Back to reality. Except for me, I think. For me, it’s Back to life, back to fantasy.  Yep.  I’m enrolling in 6 more weeks of pole dancing classes!

It wasn’t Mom Lingerie (thank GOD!)

And this brings me back to Christmas Eve, when I unwrapped a rather heavy, long, rectangular box.  It was from Barry, who was beaming, by the way.  And all of my kids and in-law kids, all 9 of my grandchildren, Barry’s brother and his family, and my Mom… all there.  This was the last gift of the night. I was sitting in the center of the room.  17-month old Dylan must have sensed something interesting beyond Tonka because he came in very, very close. I stood the box on its end and began peeling away at the wrap. Soon, these pink words revealed themselves:  Kendra Wilkinson Sport Pole. WHAT? Mama mia! It wasn’t mom lingerie, it was a sport pole. Holy moly! WHAT!?

Dylan moved in closer.  Barry could hardly contain his enthusiasm at having found the perfect gift.  Everyone else’s reaction: priceless. I unwrapped further, revealing more descriptive words:  Professional Exercise and Dance Pole. And further, revealing Kendra herself in her tiny “exercise” attire. Oh. My. God. Is he serious? In front of everyone? It made me laugh and to be honest with you – it made everyone laugh too! It was one Christmas that nobody could believe! And nobody will forget!

Dylan moved in close enough to plant a nice little kiss.  On Kendra’s face, that is.  Yes, he appreciates a girl’s commitment to exercise. It’s no secret that I signed up for pole dance classes to challenge myself to do something way outside my imagined comfort zone.  Note the word imagined.  I found more of a physical challenge than I ever could have imagined. But I also found more confidence in myself and my body… and such amazing camaraderie with my classmates than I ever would have believed. Pole dancing is one of my 57 things in 52 weeks that has changed my outlook on life.  I now know that the addage you’re only as old as you think is truer than true.

But the reaction of my newest addition to my decor was a bit more… let’s just say… interesting.  My son-in-law summed it up nicely when he announced, “Watching my mother-in-law unwrap a dancing pole was a close second to watching my Mom open lingerie…!” LOL… it was a good thing that it wasn’t! Although – was this much better? Will the kids remember this forever? YES! We all got a great big laugh and it’s something we will never, ever forget! As for me? I think it was a funny gift! I was shocked and it took me by surprise!

Ah, kids… this is only the beginning! Let’s just say… I guess some pole dancing is in my future!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smile (smirk?) on your beautiful face in the first photo, only to be matched by Barry’s delighted grin in the second. Professional? Go get ’em!
On the other hand, I think you already got ’em!

That Barry is something else. What a wonderful gift that he wants to see you using that pole. Speaking of gifts, I received one in my comment section the other day. The gift of tears and joy and love and pride. You’ll never know what your comment meant to me and how proud I am that Rhonda and I are one of your 57 in 52. Love you my sweet friend!

Oh, Barry knew exactly what you wanted for Christmas. I didn’t know Kendra has a pole she endorses. How neat to have all your family watch you unwrap such a special gift. That is awesome that you are taking more lessons. Maybe you can teach Nancy and I went we all meet this year!
