Fashion Advice for Moms: The ever-lovely CARDIGAN.

I don’t utilize cardigans enough.  I’m realizing that as I sit here writing this.  They really are such fabulous items to have, especially as the weather is getting a little bit chiller.  A great add-on item.

The reason I bring up the cardigan today is because I’m seeing them everywhere.  I was at the mall yesterday hitting some of my favorite spots – J.Crew, Banana Republic, American Eagle, GAP, Old Navy, Nordstrom – and I couldn’t get over how all these stores were carrying (some sort of style of) the basic cardigan.

Heading home, I knew I had some cardigans somewhere in my closet, so last night I dug around.  I found a black v-neck cardigan and a tan crewneck cardigan.  Honestly – both are very plain.  There’s really nothing to them, but that’s the beauty of the cardigan.  You can make them what you want.  I tossed on a very BRIGHT tank underneath the black one and I had a “fun” look.  I tossed on a silk hunter green longer tank underneath the tan one and I had a “layered” cardigan look  (with the tank popping out under the cardigan).

This is an ad on J.Crew’s site right now.  Look at how they take they’re basic gray cardigan and match it with a ruffled tank.  It’s elegant. It’s sweet.  And it’s feminine.  I love it!

Use cardigans as great items to build upon, or just wear them as they are.  I have to admit – I have a much larger appreciation for cardigans.  My advice – take some dressier summer tanks and tees and wear them underneath – bright, sparkle and dazzle!
