5 Shoes You Should Have in Your Closet!

One of my favorite quotes of all time is by Bette Midler: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.” It’s true. Sink your feet into an incredible pair of shoes and you’re just a different woman. Every season new shoes come out – there are new styles and new trends and new designs. Sometimes heels are everywhere. Sometimes flats. Sometimes boots. I want to make it easy for you. There are certain shoes that every woman should have in her closet. Not every single pair of shoes that you have needs to be stunning, but promise me you will find ONE stunning pair. Yes, ONE pair needs to be stunning.

So ladies, here are 5 shoes you should have in your closet:

1.) Black pump. An essential shoe. Just as a Little Black Dress is a must-have for women, so are black pumps. I love black pumps because they can be worn with dresses, skirts, trouser pants and jeans. That’s how you can really gauge the importance of a shoe – what can you wear it with. When you can rattle off clothing options, you’ve got a good shoe.

2.) Ankle boot. Not many women have ankle boots in their closets. I love ankle boots because they are the perfect go-to shoe for trousers and jeans. Wearing tall boots with pants can be very uncomfortable, so it’s essential to make sure you have a good alternative. Go with any size heel you feel the most comfortable in. I love to go for some height, that’s just me… but make sure it’s something you can walk in.

3.) Ballet flat. I just wrote a blog about flats for Fall that I love. I never had flats in my closet until this season, and I have to say – I love them. I cannot believe I have gone this long without a pair. I just wore my new red suede flats today! The thing with flats is that they truly are functional fashion. Flats can be worn with anything. I mean, anything – pants, dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, capris and leggings. Again, these are the types of shoes you need to add into your closet.

4.) Tall boot. This doesn’t have to be a black leather skinny boot, this can be any tall boot. Go with what is most comfortable and functionable. Everyone wears and needs tall boots for a different need – I love to wear tall boots with leggings and jeans. My best friend loves to wear tall boots with skirts and dresses, never with jeans. Notice how I’m not suggesting a particular kind of boot – there are a variety of boots you could get – leather, suede, shearling, nylon. A tall boot is a tall boot.

5.) Chic factor shoe. Now, ladies, don’t laugh. I’m serious when I write this. Every woman needs that chic factor shoe. For me it’s my pair of Manolo Blaniks. They are my CHIC FACTOR. I love wearing them. They are high. And funky. And chic. And just make me feel beautiful. They are STUNNING. We all need that stunning pair of shoes. Just that pair that you can grab and they just are the ultimate. Everyone needs that kind of shoe!

I need a pair of tall boots but I am on a very tight budget and the right pair hasn’t found me yet. This is a great post but what about a good casual sneaker?
