4:00 am…

There are not many thing that’ll get me out of bed at 4:00 am.

Yes, AM.

But this will.  Jane’s first Half IronMan.  70.3 miles of strength.  1.2 miles of ocean swimming.  56 miles cycling from Narragansett to Providence.  And a 13.1 mile run through downtown Providence, up College Hill (twice… and for those who know College Hill, that is an IronMan in itself!), and back to the magnificent Rhode Island Capital Building.

It’s said that a picture paints a thousand words, and I’m going to show you some pictures… but it would take an infinite amount of words to describe the awe, the inspiration, the pride, the LOVE I have for Jane at setting her goal to complete this grueling race and never-say-never.  Last year at this very time, our son Keith and daughter-in-law Nicole completed the same race.  This inspired Jane to kick into high gear… and, to borrow a phrase, Just Do It.

Well, she did it.  And she did it in an AWESOME time.  5 hours, 45 minutes. Smiling.  Family members showed up at various spots in the race to cheer Janie on, and at the finish line… to her great big smile.  My heart is bigger than all the pictures in the entire world!

  1. She looks beyond amazing. Not just the happiness on her face, but those thighs! If mine looked like that, I’d live in short shorts and mini skirts!

  2. Oh my gosh, this is one of those amazing moments in your childs life when you can’t quite believe that this child came from you. I can’t even imagine how proud you all must be. I know how I feel when my daughter does her marathons, but when you add in the swimming and biking, that is really something. Tell her congratulations for me. She is quite amazing. And just think, it won’t be long before we are this proud of you!!!

  3. Wow, wow, wow! I know you must be so proud today of her! I’m proud and I’m not even her Mom 🙂 This is such an amazing feat and I’m so impressed that she has never taken her eyes off of her goals this year!

Thanks for the sweet message on my blog! We are doing well, still waiting for all of the necessary military paperwork to filter down to us so that we can actually set our moving date but we are crossing our fingers for the last week in July. I’m ready and excited but it’s taking my daughter a little time to come around because we’ve been here for three years and it’s the only place she remembers so we’ve been spending time doing all of her favorite stuff here before we leave. Whew! Fun, fun!

  4. What a lovely post! Your pride and support is more than evident. 🙂 And, of course, that’s such an incredible achievement. Congratulations to Jane!!
