Vacation Footwear

Yesterday, I received a GREAT question from a reader about “vacation shoes.”  I’m looking forward to posting my answer today since I’m heading to Florida in a couple of weeks and will be wearing shorts/capris and doing a TON of walking!

Question:
What footwear do you recommend wearing on vacation in the summer when you know you will be doing a lot of walking, but want to wear capris, shorts, or skirts? And you don’t have a lot of room in your suitcase for pairs and pairs of shoes?

This is such a perfect question. Thank you for asking!

Here are my top 6 choices for “vacation shoes” to wear – 6 different styles: comfortable, casual and active that can easily transition from daytime to evening with nothing more than, perhaps, a dressier outfit and/or some fabulous jewelry!

These are all so cute. I just got a pair of Dr. Scholl’s with the gel insert. They’re so comfy, not so cute. But I think I can make them work for my vacation next month to Missouri to see the folks. We’ll be walking around Branson all day!

Have you seen the Keen sandals? They are really cute too.

Are you going to Disney? We are off in May! I am so excited. It would be so awesome to be able to meet you!

These look great for travel. I’m always that person with an extra suitcase filled with shoes because I don’t know which ones I’ll end up wearing.

oh gosh…as a floridian i have to say NO to those choices. yes they are all cute. but for florida? think heat, humidity and blisters. and sand-it’s everywhere, not just the beach. i have to give my recommendation of comfy flip flops. and there are so many cute ones-check out yellow box, reefs, etc. so comfy and really i *think* they go well with shorts, capris and casual skirts. and it’s so much easier to empty flip flops of sand than shoes or even sandals. i hate to be the voice of dissent, but i want to keep all of your tootsies comfy!

Love those. May I add Privos by Clark?? 🙂 I plan to get some before my next trip to Disney.

I hate to admit I wore my Nike flip flops and even dragged out my old Birkenstocks through all of Disney. Comfort is key for me, don’t want any blisters. But I love all your choices, they are really cute. I want to try the espadrille flats and I like those Tevas, much cuter than Keens!

Perfect timing! I’m going on a cruise to the Bahamas in 20 days. I’ve been shopping all week in preparation. I’ve been using a lot of you tips, thanks!

Those CK ballet flats look cute and comfy.

Great comfy shoes are indeed an essential while on vacay. Feet full of blisters is no fun at all.
