Thank you all for your kind comments and thoughts and prayers. You’re the best!
And I’m happy to report that Barry’s gonna make a comeBACK! It may take a bit of time, but with physical therapy, anti-spasm and anti-inflammatory medications and pain control, Barry should be feeling much better in a couple of weeks. He is a very active guy, but he is committed to following orders and resting and doing exactly what needs to be done. It’s tough to keep him down, but the memory of those ripping sounds and that excruciating pain (and the 911 call) are doing the trick. It seems that the ripping sound was the, well, ripping of the calcium build-up along his spine that complicates his arthritis. The simple act of getting dressed and bending just the wrong way at just that moment caused all that damage. And pain. Ouch.
But now that the absolute worst is over, Barry has decided that Kai’s comment (comment #1) and advice that he “definitely needs a better story than ‘I fell getting dressed’… something more rugged” is not only funny… but all too true! Yes, Barry is a rugged kind of guy and needs a “rugged” story!
So… we at Mom Generations are sponsoring a *“Barry’s Rugged Baseball Story” Contest.” (Because, of course, Barry’s back injury struck out my Boston Red Sox Opening-Day baseball festivities!)
And the PRIZE? 4 tickets to Fenway Park on July 4th, 2009 – Boston vs. Seattle Mariners –
MORE DETAILS TO COME…
SO GET READY TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE!
*(Examples: Barry was rounding second base, when… Or, Playing right field, Barry dove into the stands to… etc.!)
I’m so happy to hear that Barry is going to make a full recovery!
SO glad he is on the mend! Slow and steady wins the recovery race.
LOVE the contest idea!
Sending all my best to Mr. C for a fast and full recovery. Love and hugs to you both for making it through so much stress together!
So glad to hear he’s going to be okay!
Sharon,
Oh my God. Give Barry our love. Anything we can do? Please let us know.
Love u all
Donna
I’m so glad to hear everything is okay! I hope Barry is feeling better very soon. I’m sure you’ll be taking great care of him while he’s stuck taking it easy, so hopefully it’s not too hard on him. 🙂
I’m so glad he’s feeling better… and has a sense of humor about it all–that’s the most important part!
What a fun contest. I have a funny idea for him already!
Glad Barry is doing better. I’d love to know who your doc is b/c I have been waiting for over a month for a plan of action.
Glad to hear that Barry is doing better and going to make a full recovery. If I lived much closer, I’d be in on the contest.
So glad Barry’s injury was nothing too serious! I love the contest you’ve come up with – how fun!
