Eyebrow Waxing (I’ll take one for the team)

I usually maintain my eyebrow “arch” by tweezing. It’s something I have to do every couple of days or so… whether I like it or not.

BUT! My fashion (well, beauty) advice today for mothers is all about WAXING. It’s important to get your eyebrows waxed once every couple of months or so (I’m one of those unfortunate women who could probably have it done every 3-4 weeks!). Waxing really cleans up your eyebrows and allows for a much cleaner look and feel.

And one more thing… it gives you an instant face lift. REALLY.

(Have you ever tried waxing with 4 boys crawling up your legs and begging to be next?)

    K. So if this is the ‘confessional of eyebrow waxing’

*Stands up* Hi..My name is C. And I have to wax my eyebrows at least once a week thanks to my insanely dark hair and 100% Italian roots.
    *Sits Down*

    Chorus: Hi C….

I subscribe to your blog via google reader and enjoy all the fashion advice you offer! Your post about eyebrow waxing got me thinking. I have dark brown hair and light brown, thin, and not-very-filled-out eyebrows. My eyebrows are the bane of my existence because I know I need to do something with them, but I don’t know what. For the past few years, I’ve just been filling them in with brown eye shadow. What would you recommend? Would waxing be good for me? Would dying them be a good idea? And if I were to dye them, do I want them to match my hair color? Should I not be filling them in with eye shadow? Is there a better product to fill them in with? Help and thanks in advance!

One of the joys of having super-thick, super-dark, eyebrows is that I have become very proficient at waxing them myself … due to the fact that if I had them professionally done as much as they need, I would wax myself into the poorhouse!

I have mine done every 6-8 weeks and it’s great. Honestly, the pain is short-lived while the rewards are long-lasting.

As for knowing you won’t end up too thin, don’t just go to anyone. Get a recommendation from someone you know whose brows look good and who goes to an experienced person.

OMG this is so funny. I HATE to have this done and put it off so much. I now need to have them waxed SO BADLY. You did not even flinch! My heart beats a mile a minute when I am there. Hate it! BUT, WOW – she did an awesome job!

Oh my! Do I have a story for you! I won’t type it here, but it is on my hardly-ever-updated blog. On the second page…here is a direct link, if you would like: http://azhometeachin.wordpress.com/2008/02/05/eyebrows-are-overrated/

I have to admit I am still addicted to eyebrow waxing–even though the memory of the waxing tragedy remains. 🙂 I still don’t have it done as often as I should…I just wait for my oldest daughter to cringe when she meets my eye and avoid her when she has tweezers in her hand.

**Oh, I have switched salons and now go to an emotionally balanced hairdresser. **

Ohhhhhhhhh…my friend still goes to the *other* hairdresser and came home with a super-short hairstyle she did not ask for and the hairdresser used the CLIPPERS to SHAVE the sides of her face without asking or warning. Oh my.

My friend is loyal, I have to tell you, quite loyal. 🙂

    Audrey!
WOW–what an eye opener!! It really did give you an instant lift & made those baby blues POP!
    Looks amazing!

Have you tried threading? I have mine threaded here in The Bucket and it’s CHEAP (like $12 for eyebrows and any other hairy facial areas–chin, lip, etc.) and the hurt factor is slightly less than waxing. Make Jane try it for your blog!! 🙂

I love getting my eyebrows waxed. It really does open your face up and just makes me feel more polished. I am in dire need of a wax right now, considering I don’t exactly live in a place with great waxing opportunities! Can’t wait for my next one! Great advice!
