Come on, sometimes it’s just about the HAIR

I was in NYC yesterday and today to speak at SocComm. The event was amazing. I met tons of wonderful and knowledgeable and gifted social media mavens. It was truly a perfect 2 days in NYC.

But I did have a little hair emergency with which to contend.

I spent the night at my friend’s place. I woke up this morning at 6:30AM to shower and get ready to head downtown – only to find that I had forgotten my shampoo, conditioner and hair dryer. Yes, my friend did have some shampoo. But since my friend is a GUY (oh, I didn’t mention that before?), he only had shampoo. No conditioner. No hair dryer.

Not good (at least not for my hair).

I just didn’t have the time to run to the nearest Duane Reade to buy shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer. So I pulled out my flat iron (aka – hair straightener) and went to town on my hair. Voila! As good as new (or as good as shampooed, conditioned and dried).

So my Fashion Advice for Moms on Day #41 is: GET A GOOD FLAT IRON! This will save you big time. Rather then spending 45 minutes showering and drying and styling, just spend 10 minutes flattening and shaping. It’s a perfect alternative, and it’s just an easy and fast way to get your hair done so you can get out of the house quickly.

As mothers, we like any beauty treatment that’s quick, easy and convenient, right? Well, then the flat iron needs to become your new best friend.

I have a CHI flat iron. I spent money on a new one probably every year before I splurged and spent $100 on the CHI when it came out. I use it almost everyday(i know its not good for my hair) and its been 5 years!

Great advice! I love my flat iron too! There is no way I am washing, drying and ironing my hair EVERY day!

I LOVE my flat iron as well. I even have a little one I travel with so I’m never without one.

I have a CHI too and highly recommend it. It is pricey as Jackie said, but WELL worth it for something I use almost every day.

Agree 100%! I have a mid-grade iron and while I like it, my next purchase will be higher-end. It’s that important!

I have a flat iron, but don’t often use it. My hair is naturally very wavy, so it’s way easier for me to scrunch a little gel in and let it dry on it’s own while I drink my coffee. I wonder if I had a good flat iron, if I’d use it more?
