Coming home is a gooooood thing!

I was away from home for 2 1/2 days.

That’s about 60 or so hours.

My husband was left in charge of the boys. All 4 of them.

I wasn’t worried about him actually taking care of the kids. He has that covered… I was more or less afraid to open the door and see dishes stacked and laundry piled and shoes tossed and toilet seats up and toys scattered everywhere.

What did I find?

An empty dishwasher. A clean sink. Neatly folded clothing in baskets – each boy with his own basket. Toilet seats DOWN. And all toys put away.

Not to mention kitchen counters and kitchen table cleaned… along with dinner ordered and ready to be served upon walking through the door.

Yes, I needed to be pinched.

The moral to this story? Maybe “Mom” needs to go away a little more often.

Day #14 – Fashion Advice for Moms

After being in New York City for the past 2 1/2 days, I can say… (and this is from a HIGH HEEL LOVER) it is important to have a good pair of flat shoes. You can wear a pair of flats with just about anything – my personal favorite is a pair of jeans. Flats are easy and convenient. Wear them around the house, around the office, school pick-up/drop-off, to the coffee shop, out to dinner… anywhere. For us mothers – flats just work as that go-to/must-have versatile pair of shoes. (Not to mention… I can run after my 21 month old son a heck of lot faster in flats than I can in heels!)

GREAT tip! I have a pair of ballet flats from Chinese Laundry that I LOVE and they were dirt cheap. They are definitely my go-to shoes for everything!

Sometimes we don’t give our husbands enough credit. When I went away last November for a week, he was doing everything and then some, like pressing leaves with our daughter. I told him that he was setting up some high expectations for my return. Isn’t it great to know that they are all fine and we can get away?

Heehee, your mom, she is cute. My mom would say the same thing, Sharon!! 🙂

I am with you, Audrey, on the flats. I LOVE THEM. But it’s too cold right now so I wear flat boots over jeans EVERYWHERE. I’ll be glad when spring comes and I can break out my ballet flat collection again.
