I had the most magnificent weekend. I know it seems redundant to write about Bloggers-Who-Meet-Face-to-Face for the first time… you know, the slow-motion run along a busy city street while Chariots of Fire (or even more scary, Bolero) wafts though the clean, fresh air as two (or 11) bloggers henceforth total strangers but for their blords (I just made up that word… “blog words”) fall into embrace rivaling separated-at-birth twins (or whatever you call 11 separated children).
All this happened this past weekend in New York City. Well, replace the city street with Ta Cocina on 49th and 9th, shots of tequila, the fabulous Some Studio on West 28th, and a bunch of Hot Bloggers and friends.
Thanks, Peter Shankman (HARO), for your high-octane, super-premium graciousness, your generosity, your, ummm, greatness in the love-you-as-you’re-my-son’s-age kind of way.
To Miss Britt and your cigar-lusting husband… your energy, humor, magnificence, (and undisputed cuteness) is wildly contagious.
Poppy and Dawg… I could live with you guys. Your smiles, your combined wit and warmth and laughter and brilliance is mesmerizing. Where do I have my furniture delivered? And please stock up on Grape Nuts.
Jill Notkin, from Alex Casey Baby and The Daily Grind… I do hope you found your way to some elegant and electric affair (so to speak!) after your photo shoot. “Gorgeously HOT” doesn’t even come close.
Erika, from Chick Shopper Chick… I could have watched your photo shoot all day. Your beauty and charm and sense of fun is equaled by your delight in being a mommy to your precious daughter. Your eyes danced like diamonds each time you mentioned her name.
Katja, from Skimbaco… ah, where beauty and business DO meet, in one fabulously inventive way! I’ve gotta get myself some of your ski gear for our New England ski resorts… and you can take that to the bank. Tell ’em so!
Shawn, from Backpacking Dad, and your wife, Emily… you are living the dream of so many with your love-made-visible for each other and for your beautiful daughter. This love leaps off pages, it rises with sun, it sets with the moon, and it envelops you both. What a miracle!
Jim, from Busy Dad… yes, the GQ Dad! Gentle. Man. Gentleman. Gentleman’s QUOTIENT! Your charm is truth and honesty. That’s Hot!
Josh, from The Comic’s Curmudgeon… where intellect and humor intersect in the most beautiful guy’s HOT heart-covered boxers. No, we did not meet in the men’s room, for all of you Comic Strip lovers. Your wife is a genius. The “look” – sizzling hot.
Riese, from This Girl Called Automatic Win… your walk is like flight. Your voice is knowledge. Your eyes penetrate what others do not see. You are the place where HOT originates.
Francesco, from Francesco Explains It All… smart and confident and calm and, yes, a bit crazily smart and confident and calm enough to hang out a 16th-story window and tuck yourself into a tiny space under the hazy trust of two genius photographers on their last shoot of the day. You are wonderful. Hotly wonderful.
And again, Bill Wadman. You ARE a genius photographer. You not only see what you see. You feel what you see. Meg Wachter… you had me at tattoo. And then some. As our marathon 9+ hour day progressed, your depth and humor and calm and brilliance became deeper and deeper and greater and greater and megs and megs higher. You are phenomenal. And Jillian Villafane… you are beautiful. At first blush. Outside. Inside. At last click of your miracle make-up case. You are beautiful.
Sarah and my daughter, Jane. Bravo! Thank you for the opportunity to be among these BRILLIANT people. Each one different. Each one perfection. These HOT BLOGGERS are hot on levels so deep, so wide, with such breadth and height. It is just extraordinary to have been in the same room with that much HEAT!
Can someone please cue up Chariots of Fire?
