Signs of Fall

We have definitely reached the end of Summer.  And not just “officially,” as noted on the calendar.

No, Fall is definitely in the air. Some of the signs?

1) Socks have once again become a requirement for walking around my house. Bare feet = too cold.

2) I can no longer take my sweet time getting out of the shower. It’s direct-to-towel to get warm and dry as soon as I turn the water off.

3) Pumpkins are at the market!

4) Driving with the car windows down is just to darn cold now.

5) It gets dark by 7:30pm (boo). Even more depressing? Soon it’ll be dark by 5:30pm.

6) There are more and more leaves crunching under Ryder and Seth’s paws when they play outside. (Meanwhile, I like to pretend if I don’t make eye contact with the rakes in the garage, the leaves will rake themselves.)

7) Farmer’s Markets are coming to an end.

8 ) iParty’s Halloween commercials are playing non-stop.

9) It’s apples galore at the grocery store.

10) No more sleeping with the windows open – unless I invest in about 10 more comforters.

I do love the Fall. I love putting on cozy sweaters… going apple picking… the changing leaves… putting up the Fall decorations… Steve’s football games… Thanksgiving (four days of delicious eating!).

But I miss Summer. And while I look forward to the Christmas season, I know that the ugly winter months – January, February and March – are just around the corner.

But I will appreciate Fall while it’s here… and it’ll be here soon. The official first day is Monday, September 22nd.

How do you know Fall is here, besides the “official” date?

I love fall. I was so excited to be able to wear jeans and a fleece today. Not so excited about having to scrape my car in the winter though…

Love your descriptions of the seasons, this one and your one about summer.

How do I know fall is coming? It’s even harder to get out of bed in the a.m. Because it’s chillier and I’m just too cozy under all of my blankets.

So jealous. I usually hope for fall at least 20 minutes, maybe around Thanksgiving…. I think it was almost 90 here in Dallas today. 🙂
