Melamine in milk and a force of bloggers…

I am outraged this morning.  Must everything we touch, everything we consume, everything we use cause suspicion?  There is an old saying… “He who wants a rose must respect the thorn.”

We as parents and grandparents must be “the thorn” in the hands, the minds, the hearts and the profits of companies who continue to contaminate our children and our world… all for “the rose.”  Money.

The latest scandal involving the use of the industrial chemical melamine in dairy produced milk has me seething.  Yesterday, melamine was found in three of China’s leading dairy companies.  It seems that these companies have no moral issues with cutting costs… just add a chemical to watered down milk that makes the milk appear higher in protein.  Does it matter to the CEO’s of these dairy companies that melamine, used in plastics and fertilizers, can lead to kidney stones and kidney failure?   Thousand of babies in China have been sickened by tainted milk powder that was used to produce baby formula.   Four infants have died.

And this process does not appear to be an easy one.  There is human focus and human invention and human intervention.  Someone figured out that melamine is not water soluble, and it must be mixed with formaldehyde before it can be dissolved in milk.  Genius?  For profit, yes.

For humanity?  Unparalleled evil.

Add this evil to contaminated toothpaste.  Seafood.  Toys tainted with lead.  Plastics.  Pet food, also contaminated with melamine.  It makes me too sick to complete this list.

We are a great force of bloggers.  A united force.  We must do something to prick a thorn-full of blood for the sake of our children.  The measure of all things is our children.  It is time for respect, and even fear of “the thorn.”  Us.

I am just too sick and tired and outraged this morning to listen to one more CEO, one more inspector or one more government agency explain away one more scandal.

I totally agree!!! Big company are in just for the money they don’t care about health issue!!!! As long as it’s not their kids who are dying!!!!

I glad that here in north America that we have somewhat a government that control some of what we consume! I know that it’s not a 100% perfect system but they do try to protect! corruption is everywhere in this fallen world!

We do by all our produce, and meat from our local farmers market and know where and how and with what everything as been going trough and we do also grow and preserve our own garden and hoping to raise next summer some chicken and goat! We nurse and never offered baby food or formula to our daughter (she eat normal food like us)

Some might think that we are weird but we are just concern about what we eat and do to our environment and we want to be as natural as possible!

    Thanks for this post!!!!

Unparalleled evil is right. It’s frightening to think that even products for infants are not safe. I breastfeed, so I’ve thankfully never been affected by any of the recent scares, but my heart goes out to every mama who has to worry about her baby because corporations will do ANYTHING to make a dime.

Actually, I don’t think we will ever hear the truth but I Don’t believe Melamine caused the deaths.
    If Melamine caused
rapid and acute kidney failure this would be indicated as toxicological data on the msds sheet but it does not.
I believe the baby formula may contain wheat gluten( starch ) that has been laced with Aminopterin.
The poisoned gluten used in the infant formula was an obvious mistake. The poison being added to wheat gluten was deliberate.
You see, China has a Rabies epidemic( 200 people die from Rabies every month ). In an effort to
contain the epidemic, I think Aminopterin laced wheat gluten was used, as or in bait to kill off
stray animals(about 150 million dogs and cats). This was especially prudent as the Beijing Olympics was approaching. The Authorities began using clubs to cull the stray animals but a more efficient and faster method was needed.
Menu Foods purchased wheat gluten form China last spring which they used in their pet food causing numerous pet deaths from kidney failure. The pet food was analyzed and Aminopterin
was the initial finding confirmed by New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker and Dr. Donald Smith, Dean of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
I think by some terrible mishap, the baby formula and the pet food have the same wheat gluten.
I`m so sorry for the stricken families.

formaldehyde???!!! WHAT??? As much of a budget as my family is on, I really am starting to go down the organic only made in usa route in the grocery store. Somehow scraping money from other ares of the budget make it worth it to *HOPE* these horrendous items aren’t in our food. Those poor babies and parents.
