C Section Recovery Time

C Section Recovery Time is something that I wasn’t used to doing this time around. I was ready to just bounce right back into life like nothing happened, ha ha ha… joke was on me. C Section Recovery Time is a solid 6 weeks. A SOLID 6 WEEKS. Do you know how difficult that is to muster? How tough that is to actually do? I can’t even begin to tell you, especially – let me rephrase with 3 other “babies” at home, too.

Let me put it to you straight… A Csection is major surgery. Just like with any surgery, your body needs time to heal afterward. Expect to stay in the hospital for three to four days after your delivery (longer if there are complications), and give your body up to six weeks to fully heal. That’s easier said than done.

And truthfully – I have 4 little babies at home right now, so when the doctor told me 6 weeks, I was nervous as can be. I know that I have tons of help, but 6 weeks? That’s a really long time for me to be done. I know that my husband and I have a great partnership, but still – that’s a long time for just about everyone and anyone.

But I made it. I made it through the c section recovery time. 6 weeks was what it took. No sex. No working out. No straining your stomach muscles. I did everything I was supposed to do and I even got support for my stomach and wore bands. I was told it would help me recover quicker, I don’t know if it necessarily did – but I tried it. It was also my 1st c section, so I recovered quicker. If I have any more babies – I will HAVE to have a c section, so it maybe won’t be as smooth as can be the 2nd time around. But honestly? I’m not even thinking of that yet.

Please to all mamas out there – DO EXACTLY what your doctor tells you to do. I’ve read horror stories about moms really pushing it too hard too quickly. Make sure everyone around you is on the same page and knows exactly what you need and what to expect from you. 6 weeks goes by in a quick flash! I promise!

Oh, yes.

Quite literally.

I have taken the plunge.

Yesterday marked 6 weeks since my C-section.

And do you know what that means?

Walking. Running. Swimming.

Holding my boys. Spinning, turning and tight hugs kind-of holding.

Chasing my boys in the backyard.

It can ALL be done!

AHH!! It’s a NEW me!

Last night I walked for 45 minutes with my sister-in-law. It felt fantastic!

And today…

Well, I took the PLUNGE! I went swimming with the boys.

I can’t put any words to the feeling I had while watching the delight in their eyes as I chased them in the pool. It was absolutely incredible.

Mommy’s back, boys…

Oh, Mommy’s BACK! They are thrilled as can be! And Daddy too! šŸ˜‰

  1. Yeah for you! I want to go walking, but a storm is coming through the area. Hopefully it blows over quickly, and cools it down. Glad you’re able to swim again and enjoy these last few weeks of summer.

  2. Oh, I bet that feels wonderful! I had a pretty easy recovery post-birth, but I remember how great it felt to be NORMAL again.

  3. Good for you! I have watched your recovery story with great interest, as my first c-section is scheduled for next Thursday (one week!). It sounds like you had a really great recovery.
