The Happy Meal is turning 30! Can you believe it!?
Here I am… 31 years old, and little did I know that I was so close in age to the Happy Meal!
Launched in 1979, the Happy Meal was created by McDonald’s Regional Advertising Manager Dick Brams, who actually challenged his advertising agencies to create a children’s meal concept.
We can thank Bob Bernstein, of Bernstein-Rein in Kansas City, KS for presenting the ingenious… “Happy Meal” idea.
I get Happy Meals for my boys at least once a week. It’s a quick, easy lunch that they love. What makes me happy as a mother is that the milk offered is 1% low fat, the Chicken McNuggets are made with white meat and that the boys actually want Apple Dippers over the fries (all on their own).
I like to pretend they want Happy Meals for the meals… not the toys!
Either way…. it’s an easy lunch for me one day a week. Not to mention… they eat it. All of it. And that’s a good thing, a very good thing.

It doesn’t matter where we are… what we’re doing… or who we’re with - “I SPY” never gets old. I absolutely love it. I love that they are being curious and having fun and playing together.
