Tweightloss Challenge #1 is officially FULL! We have about 70 people participating. WOW! We had such an amazing response that we are already taking names and emails for Tweightloss Challenge #2!! If you are interested, drop me an email at: tweightloss [at] gmail [dot] com.
What’s that I say?
TWEIGHTLOSS.
The other night I was on Twitter. Oh, yes. My new obsession. (New to Twitter? Read Jane’s Twitter for Beginners post.)
The subject of losing weight came up between a few of us ladies. I mentioned that I had 18 pounds of baby weight that I wanted to lose…
And then, out of nowhere (which is what I love about Twitter!) women (and men) started chiming in that THEY had weight they wanted to lose too. Some had baby weight to shed. Some had 10-15 pounds they just finally wanted gone. Some had weight to lose for health reasons. And some had baby weight from a few years ago that they are just sick of “carrying” around. Almost everyone had weight to lose… and a reason to do it for.
We all agreed that we just need a good kick in the butt and the inspiration (and even accountability) to get ourselves moving.
It was then that Tweightloss was born!
Starting Monday, July 28th, for 12 weeks we’re going to get some help from our Tweeple Friends!
Right now we have 20 women and men who would like to be a part of the “challenge.” We’re going to divide everyone into teams… and hopefully give each team a Team Leader, someone (on Twitter!) who can provide tips and advice. New to exercising? Not sure where to begin? Wondering what kinds of foods are best to eat? We’re going to be actively seeking out people on Twitter who are fitness professionals to help with this, so if you know of any, let me know! We’ll make sure to get plenty of Twitter buzz out about them.
Each Monday we’ll weight ourselves. Or as we like to say, Monday will be - Tweigh-in Day. Everyone will email their weights (or just how much weight you lost that week, your choice) to: tweightloss [at] gmail [dot] com.
The team who has lost the most amount of weight will be the week winner! We’d love to get companies involved for giveaways, which would allow us to give one person from the “winning” team each week something to reward him or her. We would put everyone’s name on the winning team into a drawing and pick one person for the prize. So again, if you know of a company that might be interested in sponsoring a giveaway for this, let me know. We’ll be getting lots of Twitter buzz out about them!
And if each person doesn’t mind, we would love to be able to have you share your emails with your team to keep each other inspired.
We’re busy. We have jobs and kids and spouses and daily to-do lists… let’s make this be fun! Let this get you moving in the right direction.
I know I need the accountability right now. I need someone telling me, “OK, let’s work out at least 3 times this week. And put down that 3rd DONUT!”

Hi Audrey, this is a Fabulous idea! Originally I started using Twitter solely for the real-time accountability to my health and fitness goals. It’s a great way to stay motivated and it really “puts you out there” when you declare your intentions.

I am most certainly in! I’ve been on my Project Get Healthy since June 22nd! I have lost only 13 pounds, but have gone down in inches all over. My workouts have been great, firming me up all over. I am excited to join this great group of people in getting healthy. We’ll inspire and motivate each other!

You might find me silly but I lost 4lbs in the begenning of this pregnancy (to much all day sickness !!!) but am now almost 17 weeks along and have not gain the weigh loss so I hope the baby is taking some!!!!!
