Help Grow Kindness by Being Part of the Staples for Students Kindness Tree #StaplesforStudents

My son Henry had a “Giving Tree” in his class one year that he absolutely loved and took very seriously (as did the other students). Every time someone did something kind or nice to and for another student, the Giving Tree grew a leaf. Once there were a certain amount of leaves on the tree and it looked full, something special would happen for the entire class. It was such a wonderful way for his teacher to inspire and promote kindness among the students and really have them excited about a common goal based around being nice to each other and being good humans. It was a beautiful thing to hear about from him and to see firsthand in his class.

That Giving Tree grew VERY big that year.

Staples and the Born This Way Foundation are bringing the same concept to life digitally through their Staples for Students Digital Kindness Tree, an incredible and easy way to spotlight and encourage acts of kindness.

The Digital Kindness Tree builds on Staples’ Staples for Students program, which partnered with Lady Gaga and her Born This Way Foundation this year to support education nationwide and promote positive classroom experiences. As a mom of 5, I just think this is absolutely extraordinary. I am truly taken with this idea and think it’s wonderful to see Staples and Lady Gaga supporting teachers and helping them to create kinder and more positive classrooms for students.

Here’s the best part — you can be part of it, too!

You can help grow the Staples for Students Digital Kindness Tree at www.StaplesKindnessTree.com or by tweeting with hashtag #GrowKindness. On the website and on Twitter, you will have the opportunity to describe an act of kindness that you recently performed, witnessed or pledge to do. Each time an act of kindness is reported, a “leaf” will be added to the tree, which will continue to grow with each kind act reported.

Here’s a leaf that I created…

This is what I love; it gives people a chance to do good and spread kindness. Kindness and good goes a long way. It’s something for people to WANT to do, which is what I think is so wonderful. Kindness is contagious and it’s something that people will continue to keep doing because it makes you feel good.

Take the time today to spread kindness and add a leaf to the Kindness Tree.

It’s an easy thing to do which will truly make a ripple effect.

Disclosure: This is a partnership with Staples. All opinions are 100% my own.

I love to read for a number of reasons. It’s a relaxing escape from the real world and if it’s non-fiction it’s a great way to increase learning.
