BIG NEWS: We’re MOVING!

I’ve held off writing this post for a week now because I’m still processing the news myself that we’re actually MOVING!

What!?

It’s very bittersweet for me because I absolutely love our house, but I know it’s time. We’ve been here since 2005, right after Alex was born was when we signed… so 11 1/2 years. I’ll never forget moving in because it was a BIG difference than living in a one-bedroom NYC apartment! This was a BIG house with 4 bedrooms and a big yard, it was almost too big for us when we first moved in!

Our house has been good to us throughout the last 11 1/2 years. We’ve been through a lot of stuff here, both personally and professionally. We brought 3 more babies into this house, making the house (dare I say it) a little too small for us! We both started businesses from this house, just on hope and a prayer! This house has experienced hurricanes and snowstorms and heat waves with us in it. It’s just been a really, really good house for us. If a house has good mojo, this house definitely tops the list because I always felt really good mojo here!

We’ve put our own mark on our house throughout the last few years, too… new paint, new windows, new garage door, new bathrooms and (working on!) new kitchen.

We’ve made this house a beautiful home for our family, but it’s time to say good-bye. We’re staying in Rhode Island, but we will be about 30 minutes away from where we are right now. The good thing for me is that we will be closer to my parents and my grandmother and my sister and her family! Actually – we’ll only be about 10 minutes from them, which is wonderful because right now it’s about 40 minutes.

As we’ve been telling people the news, the first thing people ask us is, “Why are you guys moving?”

In all honesty, it’s because of a few reasons, but one of the main reasons is that we’re looking for a good public school system for our children. We’ve found a community with a great public school system (actually, it’s where I grew up and went to school, too!) and I’m excited for my kids to have this available to them.  I’m also happy to know that my Victoria (when she starts Kindergarten) will be starting in (hopefully!) the same school system that she will graduate high school from. The school situation has been keeping me up at night for a couple of years now. I just haven’t been sure what the “right” answer would be for my family and it’s been really tough trying to figure it out. When I say that the decision to move (literally) came to us Mother’s Day weekend and then everything just worked out seamlessly to make it happen… it did.

In my heart and my soul I know this is the right move for our family, but it’s still bittersweet!

As I’ve been packing throughout the last week, I’ve been finding so many little hidden treasures from my kids throughout the years. This house holds so many memories for us and I know it’s going to be tough for my kids to say good-bye. I never moved as a child from my childhood home, so I don’t know what it’s like. I know thousands of kids move a year to new homes and schools and they adjust, but it’s never been us… so – of course, I feel those butterflies for them.

But… the news is out! We ARE moving! We’re getting the house prepped right now for sale and working out little bums off to get it up (hopefully!) by July 15th! If you know anyone looking to move to Rhode Island in the Warwick area, let me know! This house is beautiful and will certainly be a wonderful home for a new family moving in!

I’ll keep updating as we move along, but wanted to share the news this morning!
