We celebrated Victoria’s 3rd birthday last night with family and close friends at our pool club. As you guys all know, social media is my life, but there are definitely times in my life when I know it needs to be turned off and put away completely. My daughter’s 3rd birthday party is one of those times. I just wanted to enjoy the party. Enjoy my family. Enjoy my friends. Enjoy the evening. Enjoy – most of all – my daughter.
The weather wasn’t terrific last night. It rained all afternoon and then finally cleared a bit in the early evening. Nobody was at the pool club last night so we literally had the place to ourselves with everyone! It was fantastic!
It was wonderful being surrounded by people who Victoria love to be around. She’s getting older and she knows people now, so it was fun to see her so excited about her friends being there.
As we wrapped up Victoria’s birthday party last night around 8:30PM, I grabbed my phone to check any messages/emails for work. I immediately saw the news of Nice. My heart broke. My heart actually broke. What else in this world? What else should our children have to deal with and hear about?
As we were celebrating our daughter, there was hate going on in the world.
Living in this small bubble of happiness for 3 1/2 hours… and hearing the news. It was just horrible.
My heart and my prayers go out to everyone in Nice.
It’s times like this – again – that you look at the ones you love and hug and kiss and hang onto that much tighter.
