Fall Fitness Ideas

FALL FITNESS TIPS

Fall is hands-down my favorite season of the year here in New England. The weather is mild, the foliage is beautiful, and (here in my Cape Cod home town) the beach views are stunning. I’m side lined for a bit from running, due to a toenail surgery, so I am finding other ways to fit in some fitness this month. If you aren’t a fan of a specific sport or fitness class, you can always sneak in a workout doing something fun AND seasonal. Here are some ideas for fall fitness:

– Take a walk in the woods. Walking/running on trails is always a great way to unplug and reconnect with nature.
The colors in the fall are so beautiful, and some solitude is always nice (especially if your kids are driving you nuts!).

– Rake some leaves! Jumping in leaf piles can be a lot of fun, and raking them can burn up to 300 calories an hour!

– Play golf and skip the cart. Fall is a great season for golf. The cooler temps allow you to enjoy 18 holes, and walking instead of taking a cart will give you a good workout. Expect to burn about 200 calories an hour (if you walk instead of ride).

– Do boot camp outside. There are so many pop up boot camps in different cities and towns. Find one near you and enjoy the fall weather while working up a good sweat!

ABOUT JESSICA FROM 30 SOMETHING MOTHER RUNNER :

I am a thirty-something mother runner to three crazy (but very lovable) young boys and a lazy greyhound, living the beach life on Cape Cod.I was once asked whether I run to keep up with the boys or to run away, and I guess I would say it’s a little of both! As a mother and a runner, I believe strongly in living a healthy, active life. I started 30 Something Mother Runner to connect with other moms (and dads!) who run, but it has morphed into something much larger. In addition to running, I enjoy writing about healthy eating, healthy parenting, kids’ activities and toys, technology—basically a little bit of everything! I love to work with companies that also promote a healthy and fit lifestyle. I am an ambassador for the ZOOMA women’s race series, For Two Fitness®, Stable 26, and Headsweats. I love sharing my passion for running and healthy living with the wonderful community I have found through this blog. When I’m not on the blog or on a run, you can find me on Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, and via email at 30somethingmotherrunner[at]gmail[dot]com.
